Rachel’s Favorite way to Use: I got to say, I actually like adding a little Patchouli to my BMe Ain’t Buggin’ Me Spray.  It’s not in the recipe I have now because of people’s propensity to either love or hate Patchouli, but I LOVE IT and it works to repel those little suckers.

I’m also in love with just using it as my scent in my BMe Roll On.  It’s super grounding and with my personality type to be bouncing around all day with staff, teaching classes, writing and organizing, Patchouli is what I like to use to settle me down.

About the plant:

A bushy herb that grows up to 1 meter tall in Indonesia, Malaysia and China. It is a perennial with large fragrant leaves and white flowers. The leaves were used as a deterrent to moths and insects in clothing, and the oil has been used in many well-known perfumes. Patchouli oil is said to improve with age.

How to use essential oils:

  • Diffuse: Use a few drops in your essential oil diffuser.
  • Internal: Do your research! Dilute 1 drop in 4 oz or water.
  • Topical: Dilute 1-2 drops with carrier oil and rub on desired areas

Blends well with: Basil, Cedarwood, Coriander, Lavender, Orange, and Ylang Ylang.
